OFFICIAL OPENING OF VMI’s INDUSTRIAL SITE

Dominique Denoël, VMI’s Chief Executive Officer, and Didier Soumet, LINXIS Group’s Chairman, officially opened on Friday 8th June, with their teams, VMI’s new industrial site, located in Saint-Hilaire-de-Loulay, 30 km south of Nantes (France).

A GUIDED TOUR TO DISCOVER VMI ACTIVITIES

Visitors discovered the 3,000-square-metre offices and the 10,000-square-metre factory through a journey where presentations made by company personnel highlighted the jobs and the organization of VMI, a specialist in mixing equipment and solutions. During the one-hour tour, everyone was able to see a new luminous workplace, adapted to the company’s flow management and offering an ideal setting to achieve the objective of industrial efficiency that VMI and LINXIS Group have set themselves.

Customer support, project management and planning, ongoing equipment manufacturing, the R&D and trail centre: it is through these themes that the VMI teams endeavoured to throw open VMI’s doors and emphasize with pride the expertise and the know-how of the company on its markets – bakery/snacking, pharmacy-cosmetics, and specialty chemicals.

KEY MOMENTS SUFFUSED WITH CONVIVIALITY

Back-to-back tours gathered close to 400 people who were also entertained at the Ypresis space in Saint-Hilaire-de-Loulay, 2 km away from the VMI site. Dominique Denoël and Didier Soumet had invited Antoine Chéreau, 1st Vice-President of the Pays de la Loire region and Leader of the Communauté de Communes Terre de Montaigu, and Didier Vallat, an elected member of the Vendée CCI and Managing Director of Kuhn Andureau, another Vendée company, for a speech, alongside VMI’s partners. The audience heard optimistic messages that proudly fly the colours of Vendée, a land of entrepreneurship and economic dynamism.

VMI moves to its new premises

To support its growth, VMI is pleased to announce the moving of its headquarters and its plant to new buildings, located in Saint-Hilaire-de-Loulay in the Marches de Bretagne business park, of the Terres de Montaigu borough council.

MODERN and optimized PREMISES

The new modern, optimized premises offer a significantly improved work surface to adapt to VMI’s business. Dominique Denoël, CEO of VMI, commented on this key step for the Company: “This removal is part of an ambitious company-wide project initiated in 2015. Over the last two years, this project was conducted at an exceptional pace, since the building phase per se only lasted 8 months.  Opening a new plant marks a major, symbolic step in our development process.”

A tailor-made construction

The infrastructure available include four identical, 24-metre wide, production halls, each equipped with either 2 x 10-tonne or 2 x 5-tonne overhead cranes, with a hook height of 8.5 m, that will let us assemble very large size equipment, to cope with the evolution in the market requirements.

The overall production area will cover 13,000 square metres (140,000 square feet), with 3 major architectural principles:

  • the rationalization of flows,
  • the modularity of spaces,
  • significant extension capabilities.

That will allow us to anticipate the organic growth of the Company, the development of its markets and the support to its customers.

VMI’s Research and Skill Centre will have 700 sqm (7,500 square feet) at its disposal and benefit from optimum conditions to continue and develop projects with its partners – whether industrialists, suppliers or university labs.

A significant change for the 225 employees

The company has therefore left its historical flagship in Montaigu, where it had set up in 1960, and, without interrupting business, organized an exceptionally fast, though gradual, transfer of its production tool. No less than 200 lorries transferred 6,000 pallets and 1,000 cardboard boxes in under two weeks. As it will remain close to Montaigu, VMI will continue capitalizing on the skills and engagement of its 225 employees, and will remain an active member of the entrepreneurial community of the Vendée region, where success and excellence meet.

The whole staff discovered on 28 August what is now its new production tool. After a friendly breakfast and aerial shots, a tour was organized to show the VMI employees their new plant and their new workspaces.

New visual identity

VMI has been part of the Bretèche Industrie group since 1998. Within a few years, the Group developed its structure to gather companies that are real experts and leaders on their markets.

In order to continue growing and widen its footprint, the group’s management team and IK Investment Partners confirmed on 12 October 2017 the acquisition of Bretèche Industrie, which becomes LINXIS Group.

In this context, all companies in the Group, including VMI, will change their visual communications and show that they belong to the same organization and are committed to the same core purpose.
